Ronald has loved movies and gaming since childhood — and for him, a soundbar simply won't cut it. He wants the cinema brought home, properly. Over the years he has built and refined several systems, each better than the last. The one he has enjoyed for the past five years is his crowning achievement, built to support every modern format, picture and sound alike. ## The Vision The goal was clear: the best of modern home entertainment. On the visual side, Dolby Vision and HDR for stunning colour and contrast. On the audio side, lossless formats — Dolby Atmos and DTS:X Master Audio — for sound that doesn't just play, but surrounds. The Heart of the System At the core are Bowers & Wilkins speakers, chosen for their musicality and warm signature. B&W can lean slightly bright, so Ronald paired them with the Marantz SR7011, known for its warm, laid-back sound. The balance is exactly right: rich, detailed, engaging — and natural. Atmos Done Right For height duties, Ronald chose the KEF R50 — the most high-end Atmos-enabled speakers of their time. Ceiling speakers may be the textbook option, but a rental apartment made that impractical, so four upfiring R50s sit on top of his towers. The result is a more diffuse soundstage that extends the bubble of sound upwards and wraps around the listener — breathtaking for films and games alike. The Low End The B&W DB3D — part of B&W's flagship DB series, and the most expensive single component in the system — handles the bass. Its dual woofers deliver fast, musical low end: subtle, precise, never boomy. It blends so seamlessly that you feel its contribution rather than hear it. An iPhone app offers presets for movies, music and more. The Source A great system is only as good as its source, so playback runs through a Dune Real Vision media player, which supports all the latest formats. Whether it's a 4K Blu-ray or a regular one, every detail — visual and auditory — is preserved, exactly as the director intended. Gaming: Next-Level Immersion Gaming is the other half of Ronald's passion. A PlayStation 5 and an Xbox Series X, both with expanded storage and pro controllers, cover the consoles. A high-end gaming PC handles PC titles and video editing. And for full immersion, an Oculus Rift with three room trackers opens the door to a complete virtual world. The Finishing Touches A Harmony Elite remote runs the whole show at the push of a button. For personal listening, his headphone shelf holds the B&W PX8, Sony WH-1000XM3, B&W Pi7 earbuds and an Xbox Wireless Headset. The Result Ask Ronald what impresses him most and he'll point to the soundstage. Every component works in harmony, and the speakers seem to disappear — the sound comes from everywhere and nowhere at once. Friends who have experienced it compare it to a high-end IMAX. For Ronald, this system is more than gear: it's a lifelong passion for movies, gaming and audio, brought home.
